Drive Through Shred And Recycle Event Planned In Sycamore

SYCAMORE — Residents of DeKalb and Sycamore townships can safely dispose of personal documents and household items during a drive through shred and recycle event Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Kishwaukee Family YMCA at 2500 Bethany Road in Sycamore. Organizers said volunteers will unload items from vehicles for participants. Residents may bring up to two banker sized boxes or paper bags of personal documents or CD Rs for secure shredding and staples do not need to be removed. The event will also accept items including tennis shoes, eyeglasses, hearing aids, keys and key fobs, inkjet cartridges, aluminum can tabs, cell phones, tablets and prepaid calling cards. Items collected will be donated to the Lions of Illinois Foundation. The event is open only to residents of DeKalb and Sycamore townships and participants must show a valid ID as proof of residency.
