ROCHELLE — Rochelle City officials say progress continues on the downtown construction project, with 4th Avenue now reopened after recent work and temporarily filled until asphalt plants open in early to mid May, when the road will close again for one to two days for paving. Crews are continuing curb and inlet work along 4th Avenue this week, with storm sewer installation set to begin next week in the alley between 4th and 5th avenues, and pavement removals scheduled to start along Main Street late next week. Officials also said DPI has returned to begin foundation work for a stage and restroom facility.

The city’s Street Department is preparing a temporary parking lot at North Main Street and 5th Avenue, with signage planned once it is ready, and noted that the RMU Customer Service parking lot at 333 Lincoln Highway remains open to the public.
