Don’t Get Towed – Find the Parking Restrictions in Your Town

ROCHELLE – With accumulating snow on the way, it is important to know when you’ll have to move your vehicle off the street to avoid it being towed. Many communities have different rules regarding parking restrictions during snowfall events. They’ll require either parking on a specific side of the street or removal of all vehicles from the roadway after a snowfall. Check with your local city website or police department regarding rules for your specific community.

ROCHELLE

After 3″ of snow on even calendar days, vehicles must be parked on the even side of the street where the even-numbered buildings or houses are located, between the hours of 7 AM that day and 7 AM the following day.  On odd calendar days, vehicles must be parked on the odd side of the street where odd-numbered buildings or houses are located, between the hours of 7 AM that day and 7 AM the following day.

DEKALB

For residents who park on a designated snow route, all vehicles must be removed from the street during or after a snowfall in which there is an accumulation of 2 inches of snow or more or. This prohibition remains in effect until such time as the street or alley has been plowed or the snow has been removed. All streets designated as a snow route are marked with a sign. For all other streets in the City, within 48 hours after the deactivation of the Snow Routes, any vehicle parked on any public street within the City, or parked in any City parking lot, shall be moved from its parking space to another lawful parking location that has already been snowplowed. For the period starting at 48 hours after deactivation of the Snow Routes and ending at 96 hours after deactivation of the Snow Routes, it shall be unlawful to park on any public street or any City parking lot in a parking spot that has not been cleared of snow. It is also unlawful for any person to allow a vehicle to remain parked for more than 72 hours following more than 6 inches of snowfall.

SYCAMORE

It is unlawful to park on any public street or city lot after more than 2 inches of snowfall, unless the snow has been removed. In cases of overnight snowfall, enforcement will begin at 7 AM.

BYRON

After 2″ of snow on even calendar days, vehicles must be parked on the even side of the street where the even-numbered buildings or houses are located, between the hours of 7 AM that day and 7 AM the following day.  On odd calendar days, vehicles must be parked on the odd side of the street where odd-numbered buildings or houses are located, between the hours of 7 AM that day and 7 AM the following day.

OREGON

After 1″ of snow on even calendar days, vehicles must be parked on the even side of the street where the even-numbered buildings or houses are located, between the hours of 7 AM that day and 7 AM the following day.  On odd calendar days, vehicles must be parked on the odd side of the street where odd-numbered buildings or houses are located, between the hours of 7 AM that day and 7 AM the following day.
