Dixon Police Officers Receive Lifesaving Award After Welfare Check Rescue

DIXON — Sergeant Ed Deets, Officer Breanna DeHaan, and Officer T. J. White were recognized with a lifesaving award at a recent Dixon City Council meeting after responding to a welfare check that led to the rescue of an unresponsive individual. Officers were dispatched to a residence where Officer White observed a vehicle running inside a garage. Sergeant Deets arrived and broke garage windows to ventilate the area before officers entered and found the individual inside the vehicle. Officer White and Officer DeHaan removed the person to fresh air and began lifesaving efforts after no pulse was detected. Chest compressions were performed and a pulse was restored before the individual was transported to the hospital by Dixon City Fire.
