Dixon Man Charged After DUI Crash on Illinois Route 2

BYRON — A 37-year-old Dixon man was charged after a single vehicle crash late Thursday in the 10000 block of North Illinois Route 2 near Byron. Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies say Thomas D Leigh was driving an SUV southbound when the vehicle reportedly left the roadway, entered a ditch, and became stuck. Authorities said Leigh allegedly left the scene before deputies arrived and was later located in Dixon by the Dixon Police Department. He was not injured. He was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, aggravated driving while license revoked, driving under the influence of drugs, driving while license revoked, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, improper lane usage, and failure to reduce speed. He was transported to the Ogle County Jail and later released on a notice to appear with a future court date. Deputies were assisted by the Byron Police Department, Illinois State Police, Lee County Sheriff Office, and Dixon Police Department.
