MONROE CENTER – A 21-year-old Dixon man was arrested Tuesday after Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies alleged a vehicle fled from a traffic stop and later crashed in rural Ogle County. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle around 3:20 a.m. in the 7000 block of North Mulford Road in rural Monroe Center. The vehicle reportedly fled at a high rate of speed into Winnebago County before returning to Ogle County and crashing near North Perryville Road and East Crill Road after going through a T-intersection and striking a ditch embankment. The driver, Morgan E. Giles, was arrested on charges including aggravated DUI, aggravated fleeing to elude, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI, fleeing to elude, speeding more than 35 miles per hour over the limit, and other traffic citations. Giles was released on a notice to appear with a future court date. The passenger, 31-year-old Austin J. Cooper of Galesburg, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Cooper was later taken to the Ogle County Jail on two outstanding warrants for retail theft and larceny from DeKalb and Grundy counties and was held without bond.
