BYRON – Byron Community Unit School District 226 has added a new grand piano to its music program with the help of a $16,528 grant from the Illinois Arts Council. The Yamaha C3X was purchased from Randee’s Music in Rockford and will be used for choir rehearsals, concerts, auditions, festivals and other music program events. The district says the piano will serve students for years to come. The new piano will make its debut at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14 during the middle and high school music concerts at the Byron Middle School Theatre.
