DeKalb Squad Car Involved in Collision; Officer Injured

DEKALB — A City of DeKalb police SUV was involved in a collision Monday night at Oak and North First streets while responding to a call, leaving the officer with minor injuries. Authorities said a DeKalb man driving a passenger vehicle west on Oak stopped at a stop sign and then turned south into the path of the SUV driven by Officer Trevor Burdick, which collided with the rear driver’s side of the vehicle. Burdick was taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital by DeKalb Fire. The driver, identified as Hassan M. Osman, was cited for failure to yield. No other injuries were reported and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
