DeKalb Offers Cost-Share Program for Parkway Tree Planting

The City of DeKalb is offering to cover half the cost of purchasing and planting parkway trees through its 50/50 Parkway Tree Program, which runs until the application deadline of August 4. The Public Works Department has selected tree species suited for parkways to help diversify the community’s tree population, with planting handled by a tree service in the fall. Property owners may apply to have up to two trees planted in the parkway area between the curb and sidewalk and must pay their share at the time of application. Participants are responsible for watering the trees after planting.
