DEKALB — Five local artists have their work featured in the latest round of utility box murals installed throughout DeKalb, part of the City’s public art program supported by the Citizens’ Community Enhancement Commission and a grant from the Illinois Arts Council. The murals, created by wrapping large utility boxes with vinyl reproductions of paintings, were selected from nearly 50 submissions. This fourth round of installations expands the program beyond the downtown area to neighborhoods across the city, with works by Doug Overton at North Annie Glidden Road and Lucinda Avenue, Christine Perkovich at Dresser Road and Pride Avenue, Lise Schlosser at North Annie Glidden Road and West Hillcrest Drive, Charlie B. Thorne at North First Street and Pine Street, and Aaron Tinder at North First Street and West Hillcrest Drive. The program plans to feature additional local artists in more neighborhoods in the future.
