DeKalb Bans Vape Vending Machines, Unregulated THC and Kratom Sales

DEKALB — The DeKalb City Council has unanimously voted to ban vape vending machines and the sale of unregulated hemp-derived THC and kratom products to reduce access to minors. Unlike cannabis sold at licensed dispensaries, these products are not tested for safety and often come in packaging that resembles candy or snacks, raising concerns about accidental use by children. The new rules also target the lack of marketing regulations and the ease of purchase through vending machines, which city officials said could mislead users about the risks.
