ROCHELLE — The Flagg Township Museum will take part in the Cut the Square event May 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. in downtown Rochelle, featuring music, classic cars, and a community gathering.
Director Jan Devore said, “There’s two different opinions about where the squares actually were cut. But basically 6th, 7th Street up to 38, back down what is now Lincoln Highway, then Lincoln Avenue behind the museum. It’s that high school tradition of being out in your car when gas was cheap and seeing who was out and about. Kids don’t do that anymore, but we like to kind of relive this opportunity.”
Officials said the free event will include car displays and access to the museum.
