CRESTON — The Creston Village Board received updates May 5 on water system repairs and infrastructure work, including ongoing cleaning of the village water tower and a planned water main replacement project. Officials said the tower was taken out of service, drained and cleaned, and a mixer was installed to help reduce rust in the system. The village is using temporary pressure controls to maintain service while work continues, and the tower is expected to be refilled this week with testing to follow before it returns to service early next week. Officials said fire hydrants will be flushed after the system is restored and residents may see discolored water during the transition. The board also heard that a water main project near South Street and West Street is expected to begin later this month once the tower is back online, with upgrades planned to reduce rust issues and improve service.
