CRESTON – The Creston Village Board is moving forward with a review of its zip code boundaries after residents reported delivery problems caused by the street address zip code being changed from 60113 to 61068, which overlaps with the City of Rochelle. Many residents currently have a Creston Post Office Box but a physical Rochelle address. One of the concerns raised is if they continue to have Creston addresses changed to the Rochelle zip code, they will have residents with the exact same address as an existing property in Rochelle. The village plans to request a formal review from the United States Postal Service district office to revert the zip code, citing confusion with duplicate street addresses and difficulties receiving mail and services. The process requires a letter from the village, a boundary map, a list of affected addresses, and agreement from both municipalities. Village officials said the change was made without local approval and has caused issues for residents, businesses, and utility services, and they are now preparing the necessary documentation to restore the correct zip code.
