ROCHELLE — A dangerous heat wave is set to impact Illinois this week, with temperatures expected to reach heat index values between 105 and 115 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the area, effective from 10 a.m. Wednesday through 10 p.m. Thursday, warning of an increased risk of heat-related illnesses. To help residents stay cool, several cooling centers across Lee, Ogle, and DeKalb counties are offering refuge from the heat. Locations include libraries and community centers, which provide air-conditioned spaces for anyone in need of relief.
