Comptroller Susana Mendoza May Avoid Reelection For Mayoral Bid

CHICAGO —  Illinois Comptroller Susan Mendoza may bypass a re-election bid to run for mayor of Chicago in 2027.  The Chicago Tribune reports that there is speculation that she will not run for a fourth term.  Mendoza did not meet last week’s deadline set by Cook County Democratic Party officials to confirm an appearance at Friday’s county slating.  The event is designed to endorse Democratic city ward and suburban township committeepersons.   Mendoza’s camp says she’s weighing her options, including re-election.
