Black Bear Sightings In Northern Illinois

GALENA —  The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is warning residents that black bear has been spotted in the northern part of the state.  Residents in Jo Daviess and Carroll counties are being reminded that the black bear has been observed by multiple landowners over the past several weeks in the vicinity of Mississippi Palisades State Park.  The animal also has frequented private homes south and east of Galena.   The IDNR encourages residents throughout Jo Daviess and Carroll counties to avoid direct encounters with this bear.
