Pritzker Joins Governors Opposing Federal Climate Bill

SPRINGFIELD — Gov. J.B. Pritzker has joined nine other governors in urging Congress to reject legislation they say would limit the authority of state and local governments to address climate change. In a letter sent to leaders in the U.S. House and Senate, the governors argued that Senate Bill 4340 and House Resolution 8330 would prevent states and local governments from enforcing laws intended to protect residents from the effects of climate change. The governors also said the measures would block state and local governments from pursuing legal action against corporations whose pollution harms residents.
