Pritzker Signs Legislation to Ban Junk Fees and Protect Consumers

SPRINGFIELD —  Illinois is making efforts to curb junk fees.  Governor Pritzker signed several bills that aim to protect Illinois consumers.  That includes banning junk fees, increasing transparency in ticket pricing and curtailing deceptive resale practices.  The legislation also regulates “Buy-Now-Pay-Later” lenders.  It goes into effect immediately, giving lenders until January 1st, 2028 to comply.
