Oregon Depot Receives Grant for Silver View Railcar Restoration

OREGON  — The Oregon Illinois Depot has received a $5,000 Railway Heritage Grant from the Illinois Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society to support the restoration of the historic Silver View railcar at the Oregon Depot Museum. Silver View served as a first class parlor car on the Burlington Route’s Twin Cities Zephyr from 1947 to 1968 and regularly stopped in Oregon on its daily trips between Chicago and Minneapolis and St. Paul. The railcar was moved to the Oregon Depot Museum in 2019, where restoration work continues with the help of local volunteers.
