GRAND DETOUR. — Three people suffered minor injuries in a three vehicle crash Thursday evening on the Route 2 Grand Detour bridge, according to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the crash about 8:15 p.m. and determined a southbound passenger vehicle driven by a 69-year-old Oregon man was allegedly traveling in the northbound lane. A northbound sport utility vehicle driven by a 44-year-old Tampico resident reportedly swerved into the southbound lane to avoid a head-on crash but collided with the vehicle. The SUV spun into a guardrail before striking a second northbound passenger vehicle driven by a 37-year-old Oregon resident, which also hit a guardrail. Three people were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. The 69-year-old Oregon driver was cited for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and other traffic violations.
