Rochelle Elementary District Approves Personnel Changes

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Elementary District 231 Board of Education approved several personnel changes, including the resignation of Rosaelia Arteaga as kindergarten teacher effective at the end of the 2025 to 2026 school year and a Family and Medical Leave Act request for Shannon Howell effective May 2026. The board approved new hires for the 2026 to 2027 school year including Rey Arteaga as dual language math teacher, Brooke Hurt as fifth grade teacher, and Rebecca Leon as third grade teacher. Transfers were also approved with Jennifer Herrera moving from first grade dual language teacher to first grade teacher and Shelby Sanderson moving from first grade teacher to second grade teacher. In support staff changes, the board approved the retirement of paraprofessional Dianne Reynolds at the end of the 2025 to 2026 school year and the hiring of Evelyn Gonzalez as a bilingual paraprofessional and summer help. The board also approved several extracurricular resignations including Ben Baar as eighth grade lunch supervisor, John Dobbs as art coordinator, Tracey Lawton from multiple roles including noon detention supervisor, after school sports supervisor and yearbook advisor, Kim Lumzy as girls basketball assistant coach, Stephanie Sampson as eighth grade lunch supervisor, and Jennifer Siebert as fifth grade speech coach. New extracurricular appointments include Rey Arteaga as volleyball head coach and after school sports supervisor, Ben Baar as noon detention supervisor shared with Chelsey Stolte, and Christine Underwood as yearbook advisor.
