CHICAGO – Corn and soybean development continued steadily through the end of August, according to the USDA. Corn was 58% dented and 15% mature; Illinois reported 72% dented, and 15% mature. Soybeans setting pods hit 94% nationally and 95% in Illinois, with leaves dropping at 11% and 16%, respectively. Crop conditions were mostly good to excellent, though some areas of Illinois faced short topsoil and subsoil moisture.
