MOUNT MORRIS — An Oregon teen driver was cited after a single vehicle crash Wednesday evening in the 3000 block of West Camp Road near Mount Morris. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded about 6:15 p.m. and found that a 16-year-old was driving an SUV westbound when the vehicle, for unknown reasons, left the north side of the road, struck a telephone pole, returned to the roadway, and then went into the south side ditch. A 16-year-old passenger from Oregon suffered minor injuries, was evaluated by Mount Morris EMS at the scene, and declined additional medical treatment. The driver was cited for carrying a passenger during the first 12 months of a graduated driver’s license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and driving too fast for conditions.
