MENDOTA — A 20-year-old Beardstown man working in a construction zone was flown by LifeFlight after being struck Monday around 2 p.m. by a farm implement pulled by a pickup on northbound Illinois Route 251 south of Mendota, according to Illinois State Police Troop 2. Authorities said the truck, driven by 31-year-old Kellen Murphy of Winslow, struck the pedestrian while traveling through the zone, with no injuries reported by the driver. Mendota Fire, Troy Grove Fire, Mendota Police, ISP, and LifeFlight responded, with crews remaining on scene until 2:20 p.m. Murphy was cited for improper lane usage.
