DEKALB — The first Wise and Well Senior Summit will take place Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Faranda’s Banquet Center, offering free presentations and resources for older adults. The event will feature multiple topic-based sessions and Illinois Tollway assistance with its I-PASS Assist program from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Kimberly Barrios, Community Relations & Events Coordinator with DeKalb Township, said individuals face unique barriers in society as they get older.
“Some of those challenges can lead to isolation or anxiety, depression, so the aim of this event is really to just come alongside seniors in the community, provide them with resources, but also with important connections to organizations within our community that want to come alongside them.”
Attendees may come and go throughout the day, with free parking available in the city lot across the street. Complimentary coffee and water will be available, and the Lincoln Inn Restaurant will be open for meals.
