Winnebago Co Mother Convicted Of Medically Abusing Her Children

ROCKFORD –  A Winnebago County mother is being convicted of medically abusing her children.  Kathryn Williams was found guilty on multiple charges, including Aggravated Battery to a Child.  Prosecutors say in August 2018, authorities began investigating Williams after receiving a report that she was insisting on medical care for two of her children that they didn’t need.  Detectives found that both the children had feeding tubes and parts of their colon removed.  Both children were taken to a Chicago hospital, where staff weaned them off multiple medications, removed their feeding tubes and reversed other unnecessary medical interventions.  It was determined that Williams reported exaggerated or false medical claims to medical professionals for both children which resulted in unnecessary medical treatment.
