A solo home run by Spencer Torkelson in the 9th inning Monday night gave the Detroit Tigers a 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.
The Tigers have won 3 out of their last 4 games and lead the AL Central Division.
Kyle Finnegan picked up the win in relief for Detroit. Will Vest worked the 9th inning for his 17th save.
The White Sox had only 4 hits in the game which included a solo home run in the 5th inning by Colson Montgomery.
Brandon Elsert took the loss in relief.
Game 2 in the series is Tuesday night at Rate Field in Chicago.
