SYCAMORE – The DeKalb County History Center will host a grand opening celebration Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at 1730 N Main Street in Sycamore to mark the completion of its campus expansion project and the debut of the new exhibit We the People of DeKalb County. The family friendly event will include a ribbon cutting at 12:15 p.m., along with activities such as refreshments, face painting, baby goats, and a mini barn quilt painting workshop at 1:30 p.m. Visitors will also be able to tour the expanded campus, including a stabilized corn crib, walking paths, and a pavilion. The exhibit was created as part of the America 250 commemoration and highlights the people, places, and stories that shaped DeKalb County history while reflecting themes of equality, freedom, and community. Admission to the free celebration is open to the public, with exhibit entry costing $5 and free admission for members and children 14 and under.
