WASHINGTON — The USDA reported Sept. 21 that corn harvest across 18 major states reached 11 percent, equal to the five year average, with Illinois at 12 percent. Soybean harvest stood at 9 percent nationally, also on pace with average, while Illinois reached 9 percent compared to a 5 percent average. Corn maturity hit 56 percent nationwide and 69 percent in Illinois, while soybeans dropping leaves reached 61 percent nationally and 77 percent in Illinois.
