CHICAGO – United Airlines is considering a move to raise its fares due to high jet fuel prices resulting from the war in Iran. CEO Scott Kirby said the airline may increase plane ticket prices by 15 to 20 percent after already raising baggage fees and reporting a record-setting year in revenue. According to the airline’s earnings report for fiscal year 2025, United recorded just over 59 billion dollars in operating revenue. However, jet fuel has skyrocketed in price by more than 100 percent per gallon since last year and it has gone up nearly 70 percent since the start of the war.
