WASHINGTON DC — Representative Lauren Underwood has secured $10,954,800 in FY2026 Community Project Funding for northern Illinois projects supporting childcare, career training, clean water infrastructure, and more. The funding includes $850,000 for Northern Illinois University to upgrade its child care center, hire staff, and improve safety and health for children. Earlier this month, Underwood also secured $2.5 million for initiatives addressing food security in the Illinois Valley, rural health care in Mendota, and infrastructure for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation in Shabbona.
