Toys For Tots Drive Underway In Ogle County

ROCHELLE — Toys for Tots has kicked off its annual holiday toy drive in Ogle County. Coordinator Heather Tinsman says the program served 955 children last year with toys, books and gifts collected through community donations. She says the greatest need is for older kids, who are often overlooked.

“That is definitely our challenge area is about the seven and to 18. And things we like to do are board games, art and crafts. Kids are still into squishmallows and books and sporting equipment like basketballs, skateboards,” she said.

Applications for families in need are open at ogle-il.toysfortots.org, and new unwrapped toys or cash donations will be collected at sites across the county through early December. Special events, including Rochelle’s Quartermania on November 15, will also benefit the program.
