The Reds completed a four-game sweep of the Cubs with a 1-0 home victory. Gavin Lux drove in Cincinnati’s lone run with a double in the third inning as part of a two-for-four day. Nick Martinez got the win and Tony Santillan locked down his seventh save. The Reds have won six of their last seven games and are now 80-and-76 and tied with the Mets for the final NL wild card spot entering the final week of the season.
Jameson Taillon got the loss after allowing a run on five hits over seven innings. Four straight Cubs losses put them at 88-and-68, second place in the NL Central and first place in the NL wild card race.
The Cubs will be at Wrigley Field Tuesday night against the New York Mets.
