Tenants Near Planned Obama Presidential Center Fear Displacement

CHICAGO –  More than a dozen residents near the planned Obama Presidential Center in the Woodlawn neighborhood say they’re being forced out of their homes.  Tenants of the Chancy Braggs Apartment have formed a union and claim an investor wants to demolish and rehab their building.  Alderman Desmond Yancy says there aren’t any plans to tear down the complex, but he’ll watch for developments. Meanwhile, Obama Center officials released a statement that says they are working with the city to make sure the community has access to affordable housing through the Woodlawn and Jackson Park Affordable Housing Ordinances.
