On May 9, 2025, at approximately 0050 hours the Sycamore Police Department observed a Chrysler 300 traveling 60 mph in a posted 45 mph construction zone. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle at W. Peace Road and Frantum Road. Luis Juarez, of Hampshire, Illinois, was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. After further investigation, and a search of the vehicle, multiple jars of cannabis, THC concentrate, and a bag containing a white substance were found in the vehicle. The white substance field tested positive for cocaine.
Juarez was taken into custody and charged with 720 ILCS 570/402 (c) Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, class 4 felony and 720 ILCS 600/3.5 (a) Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, class A misdemeanor, and a verbal warning for Speed. Juarez was issued a Notice to Appear and released per the SAFE-T Act guideline.
The public is reminded that all persons charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and all charges are merely accusations.
