DEKALB – Sycamore Police Chief Erik Mahan released the department’s 2025 Annual Report last month, highlighting a significant downturn in local crime statistics. In his first annual address since stepping into the role of Chief, he noted that crimes against persons saw a sharp decline of nearly 40% over the last two years. According to the report, incidents fell to 120 in 2025, down from 197 in 2023 and 134 in 2024. Crimes against property also trended downward, dropping to 293 cases compared to 352 the previous year.
