Study: Neurodegenerative Disease Risk Higher For NFL Players

BOSTON – A new study provides sobering information on the impact of head trauma on NFL players.  Researchers at Boston University and Mass General Brigham say professional players are four times more likely to die of a neurodegenerative disease than the general population.  Among the nearly 20-thousand former NFL players studied, the length of their career played a role.  Those with five-plus seasons doubled the risk of contracting ALS, Parkinson’s disease or dementia.
