Students Explore Medical Careers At Rochelle Community Hospital

ROCHELLE — Students got a hands-on introduction to health care careers Monday during a Career Quest event at Rochelle Community Hospital, where local high schoolers practiced mock surgeries and clinical skills while learning about jobs in the medical field. About a dozen teens ages 14 to 17 participated in activities such as giving injections, starting IVs and placing sutures on training materials as part of an interactive program coordinated by a medical surgical nurse. Organizers say the event, held twice a year on Columbus Day and Presidents Day, helps students understand career paths and daily responsibilities in health care.
