Structure Fire Damages Sycamore Home

SYCAMORE — A fire caused heavy damage to a home in the 1200 block of Darling Court late Friday night after a family dog alerted residents before smoke alarms activated. The Sycamore Fire Department responded at about 11:42 p.m. and found heavy fire coming from an attached garage and extending into the attic. All occupants escaped safely before crews arrived. Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 40 minutes. Damage is estimated at $220,000 to the home and $175,000 to contents and two vehicles. No injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation.
