MOUNT MORRIS — The 11th annual Strawfest Day was held Saturday at Historic Campus Square in Mount Morris, featuring large straw sculptures, live music, food and family activities. Danica and Mark Rogers of Rochelle won both the People’s Choice and Artists’ Choice awards with “Mt. Cheddarest”, a sculpture featuring a pair of adventuring mice climbing a wedge of cheese. The event also featured straw bale races, games, demonstrations and the Strawfest Strut 5K. The competition featured 5 new sculptures, which must be at least 90% straw on the outside and at least 6 1/2 feet tall.
