STILLMAN VALLEY — A Stillman Valley man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after a crash Sunday night that left him seriously injured and damaged eight mailboxes and a light pole. Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to Highland Court and S. Valley Drive at about 10:46 p.m. after a dump truck left the roadway. The truck had reportedly left a business on E. Main Street and lost a container, tools and about 150 gallons of driveway sealer onto N. Walnut Street before leaving the area. The truck later lost control while traveling south on S. Valley Drive, struck eight mailboxes and a light pole, then stopped in the front yard of a residence on Highland Court. The driver was taken to Mercy Health Hospital in Rockford with serious injuries. He was also cited for expired registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released on a notice to appear in court.
