Special Olympics Illinois Golf Outing Raises Funds for Athletes

ROCHELLE — The Special Olympics Illinois golf outing returned Thursday at Fairways Golf Course in Rochelle, raising funds for year-round sports programs serving more than 1,700 local athletes with intellectual disabilities.

Katie Risley, Director of Development for Region A of Special Olympics, Illinois said it was an important day for the organization.

“ We’re so thankful to Rochelle, the community here and to bring people out for a great cause to raise money and raise awareness about Special Olympics,” she said.

A foursome representing the Rochelle Police Department came out on top on Thursday.
