Southbound I-39 in Cherry Valley to Close for Pavement Work Starting Sept. 30

CHERRY VALLEY — The Illinois Department of Transportation will begin a $3.9 million project to reconstruct southbound Interstate 39 near Perryville Road on Tuesday, Sept. 30, weather permitting. The work zone extends from the U.S. 20/Harrison Avenue interchange to just south of the Perryville Road bridge. Night work will reduce traffic to a single southbound lane during two weekends, Oct. 3–5 and Oct. 10–12, with the project scheduled for completion by Oct. 20. Drivers are advised to follow posted signs, observe speed limits, and remain alert for workers and equipment. The project is part of the Rebuild Illinois program, which has invested $33.2 billion in highways, bridges, and safety improvements statewide.
