Somonauk Fire District Equipment Project Proposed

JOLIET – Representative Lauren Underwood announced a proposed $474,000 federal funding request for the Somonauk Fire Protection District to replace outdated safety equipment. The request is part of Community Project Funding submissions for fiscal year 2027 and has not been approved. The proposal would update self contained breathing apparatus used by firefighters, which have reached the end of their service life. Officials said the upgrades are needed to meet current safety standards and support emergency response in the district.
