Shining Star Hands Around the City in Rochelle

ROCHELLE — Rochelle residents are invited to participate in the Hands Around the City event today at noon on the City Hall lawn to support child abuse prevention. The event is organized by Shining Star Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA 15th District, featuring Mayor John Bearrows and survivor Patrick Janes as guest speakers. Remarks will be given by Jessica Cash, executive director of Shining Star CAC, and Trisha Howard, executive director of CASA 15th District. Cash said the event is held in recognition of April’s Child Abuse Awareness Month to encourage community involvement in protecting children.

“This is our first year to be able to do a similar event in Rochelle. So we’re working alongside CASA to partner together to do this event,” she said.

In the event of rain the event will be held inside the Rochelle City Council Chambers.
