Senators Durbin, Duckworth Call For U.S. Attorney’s Resignation

CHICAGO –  Senators Durbin and Duckworth are calling for U.S. Attorney Andrew Boutros to resign.  The lawmakers say Boutros’ tenure as Chicago’s top federal prosecutor has been marked by alleged misconduct, internal dysfunction, and controversy.  Their calls follow the collapse of the prosecution against six protesters known as the “Broadview Six.”  A federal judge has accused prosecutors of improper conduct during grand jury proceedings and alleged efforts to withhold information from the court.  The senators are urging an open and nonpartisan search for the next U.S. Attorney for Northern Illinois.
