School District Contract Law Signed by Governor

DIXON — Legislation sponsored by State Rep. Brad Fritts will give school districts more flexibility when students are transferred from a district that is closing. House Bill 3860, recently signed into law by the governor, increases the required contract length between a deactivating school district that sends students to more than one district and the receiving district from two school years to four school years. The law also allows districts to renew the agreement for any length of time they mutually approve instead of limiting renewals to one or two years. The new law takes effect Jan. 1.
