The Rockets are rewarding a member of their backcourt with a new contract.
Houston is signing Rockford native Fred VanVleet to a two-year, 50-million-dollar contract to remain with the franchise.
The Rockets will be declining VanVleet’s 44.9-million-dollar team option for next season.
The 31-year-old is a one-time All-Star that finished last season averaging 14.1 points through 60 games played. He has averaged 14.9 points throughout his nine-year NBA career.
