YOKOSUKA, JP – Master Chief Petty Officer Michael Deshawn Bemley, a Rockford, Illinois native and 2003 Jefferson High School graduate, is serving aboard the USS John Finn (DDG 113), an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer conducting operations in the Philippine Sea. Forward-deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, and assigned to Destroyer Squadron 15, Bemley has served in the Navy since 2004 and became a command master chief after 14 years of service. He holds a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and previously served in locations including Iceland, Hawaii, Maryland, and Tennessee. The USS John Finn supports regional security and readiness missions across the Indo-Pacific.
